Polymer Dev Lab is intended to provide an opportunity for interns and fresh graduates to start their careers in the hedge fund industry.

- Own projects that involve data analytics and visualization, risk analytics and monitoring, quantitative research, and trading.

- Automate daily workflows by addressing operation pain points.

- Reduce the usage of Excel VBA by providing better solutions.

- Build prototypes or tactical tools to prove new operation/analytics ideas.

- We follow Agile & DevOps practices, polish products by iterations, build, test, deploy and monitor ourselves.

- We enforce peer reviews and automated tests to ensure code quality.

Requirements

- A minimum of 3 years of experience in either front-end or back-end development, or both. While you are not expected to be an expert in all areas, you should be comfortable working on any project aspect. Our developers are encouraged to grow with the team and become proficient in delivering end-to-end solutions.

- Eagerness to step out of your comfort zone and learn. You will encounter mathematical and statistical concepts that require understanding and implementing user requirements. You may also need to use multiple programming languages and frameworks within a single project to provide the most effective solution

- Proficiency in English reading and writing. Our team members come from diverse backgrounds, and daily communication is primarily in English, while limited speaking ability is acceptable.  

Job Brief

Our team specializes in data analytics and visualization, handling multiple projects that encompass risk analytics, monitoring, quantitative research, and trading. We take an end-to-end approach to development, which includes database schema design, API design, and front-end UI/UX design. We use Agile and DevOps methodologies to refine our products iteratively, managing build, test, deployment, and monitoring processes. We maintain high-quality code through peer reviews and automated tests, using Git branching models, pull requests, and CI/CD tools.

Requirements

- Strong English communication skills, with the ability to understand and translate user feedback into technical improvements.
- Proven experience in end-to-end product development and delivery.
- Hands-on experience building applications that leverage large language models such as Gemini or OpenAI APIs.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and best practices for software delivery and maintenance.
- Proficient in at least one of the follow- Financial industry background.
- Proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C#, or TypeScript.
- Highly self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing your own work and priorities.

- Collaborate with internal teams to identify business challenges and design AI-driven solutions.
- Develop and deliver end-to-end software products, from ideation to production deployment.
- Integrate with LLM services such as OpenAI, Gemini or similar to enhance user experience and system intelligence.
- Engage with users and stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate on product features.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to the reliability and scalability of deployed solutions.
- Ensure smooth operation and maintenance of AI-integrated systems.
- Work independently and take ownership of tasks without waiting for instructions.

 - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronic engineering or similar engineering background
- At least 2 years of experience in data engineering, preferably in the hedge fund industry or a related field
- Able to code in at least one static language, such as Java, C# etc.
- Familiar with Python based data processing ecosystem
- Familiar with PostgreSQL and experienced with best practices and performance tuning
- Familiar with Apache data tool stack, such as Airflow, Spark, Kafka, etc.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- A keen interest and understanding of the financial markets and hedge fund strategies.

- Design data pipelines to process various internal and external data according to the nature of the data and the need of internal users.
- Make sure the data pipeline and storage solutions are performant and scalable.
- Implement automated data quality checks and alert system to monitor and troubleshoot data issues.
- Provide adequate access control and usage audit solutions to ensure data security and compliance.
- Research and evaluate latest data related technologies and tools to keep our data platform updated and competitive.
- Collaborate with the investment and trading teams to understand their data needs and provide them with relevant and timely data access and delivery.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
8+ years of data-center design & build experience, with at least two facilities delivered from 0→1
Deep expertise in: Power distribution & UPS systems, Cooling, Racking, cable management, and airflow containment, Network backbone design
Hands-on experience with bare-metal server provisioning, virtualization (e.g. KVM, VMware)
Strong background in storage and database performance tuning (PostgreSQL, KDB)
Proven ability to manage budgets, vendor contracts, and project schedules
Excellent communication skills; able to translate between business, financial, and technical stakeholders
Willingness to travel to the local data centers when needed

End-to-end project leadership for data center build-out
Collaborate with local consultants to gather site requirements, review and vet mechanical, electrical, and architectural designs
Lead RFP process for power, cooling, rack/caging, network, security, and monitoring systems; select and manage vendors
Define network architecture and integrate with existing cloud
Architect and deploy high-performance storage and database clusters on bare-metal hardware
Develop migration plan from exsiting cloud to owned facilities
Implement neccessary security controls in accordance with financial regulations
Establish operational procedures: capacity planning, fleet management, incident response, DR/BCP
Create budgets, forecasts, and ROI models; monitor spend vs. cost-savings targets relative to current cloud spend
Mentor and coordinate with in-house engineers to hand off for ongoing operations
